Managing asbestos reports and data
A
new duty to manage asbestos in premises has been
added to The Control of Asbestos Regulations 2006.
People responsible for repair and maintenance of
the premises (e.g. Facilities Manager, Managing Agents) must ensure
that asbestos containing materials (ACM's) within those premises
are properly managed. The first step of the management process
is to undertake an asbestos risk assessment survey.
Asbestos Registers are traditionally paper based.
Although these contain all the information required to manage
the asbestos, they are generally considered to be inflexible,
awkward to use and adapt for information transfer.
How ALS can help
ALS has created ARMS - a purpose-built
asbestos management database system designed
to make the handling, planning and updating of asbestos information efficient,
easy and user friendly.
How ARMs can help you
The duty to manage asbestos in premises is an ongoing
requirement under the CAR 2006. The duty holder must ensure
that asbestos containing materials (ACMs) within those premises
are effectively managed. The first step of the management
process is to undertake an asbestos risk assessment survey throughout
your premises thus obtaining a detailed register of the ACMs. The
Asbestos Register Management System (ARMS) has been designed
to house this survey data in an easy to use, fast & efficient
database enabling you to effectively manage the asbestos in your
premises.
As
a principal part of the ongoing duty to manage asbestos in buildings,
it is a requirement that all identified ACMs within your premises
must be re-inspected at least once every 12 months. With
the ARMS & the integrated Pocket PC module, the re-inspection
process is very straightforward, accurate & time efficient. The
Pocket PC module enables a surveyor to revisit a site with all
the ACM data conveniently available and to record any changes
in the data at source, saving valuable reporting time & ensuring
the maximum accuracy.
ARMS will automatically log this new re-inspection
data, creating an archive file showing historical inspections and
changes to the ACMs state throughout the life of its management.
- Password protection & user log for security

- MDHS 100 compliant
- Digital photographs

The benefits of using ARMS
Asbestos Register Management System (ARMS) is
designed to collate information from an asbestos
location survey assessment and make it readily available to interested
parties.
Asbestos Register Management System (ARMS) is
simple cost effective and ultimately updateable,
it is extremely user friendly requiring little prior computer
literacy to enable people to view or edit the database.
Asbestos Register Management System (ARMS) has
been designed taking into account the HSE's MDHS 100 'Surveying,
Sampling and Assessment of asbestos - containing materials'.
Asbestos Register Management System (ARMS) is
a searchable ACM database assisting
duty holders to comply with The Control of Asbestos Regulations 2006.
