Sampling and analysis of airborne fibre concentrations
ALS holds UKAS accreditation for asbestos air sampling
and fibre counting and was one of the first organisations to achieve
accreditation for the 4 stage clearance in January 2006.
Our experienced team of analysts are able to offer our clients
total piece of mind that asbestos removal works have been carried
out to the highest possible standards, carrying out initial site
audits, thorough visual inspection and clearance air monitoring.
The principal of air sampling involves drawing
a known flow rate of air through a filter for a measured time,
so that particles are collected.
The airborne fibre sampling procedures using Phase Contrast Microscopy
include the following:
Compliance Monitoring
Background Sampling
Leak (enclosure check) sampling
Clearance Indicator Sampling and Certificate of
Re-Occupation
Reassurance sampling
Assessment of the suitability of respirator
protection
Site-specific
testing strategies are formulated to meet the requirements of
each project and samples are analysed onsite
in accordance with HSG 248.
Once the site has been cleared of all plant and materials used
for the asbestos removal project, our analysts can issue a Certificate
of Reoccupation in accordance with Regulation 17 of the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2006.
If you would like to discuss your air monitoring and clearance
testing requirements please feel free to contact our dedicated
