How we work and who works for us
Although our work is of a serious nature you will
find us a friendly and flexible organisation, we’re also
competitive on price. We work with and nurture businesses and
institutions, large and small, building up lasting friendships
both across the UK and internationally. These relationships have
developed into long term placements with clients for key staff.
ALS has 40 staff including project managers, surveyors,
analysts, lab technicians, health and safety consultants and occupational
hygienists. Our health and safety consultants are corporate members
of IOSH.
Our experience, continuing professional development
and wide range of consultancy contribute to our first-rate reputation
for providing a cost-effective and practical approach to health
and safety.
Why appoint ALS?
Safety legislation requires that every employer
must appoint a ‘competent person’ to assist with the
health and safety management at work. By appointing a Safety Consultancy
as your ‘competent person’ you will be able to get
on with your own job and forget about trying to interpret the
latest rules and regulations. Our consultants are experts in their
own field of operation and are covered by professional indemnity
and public liability insurance for your protection. We offer a
rapid response and nationwide coverage.
As well as working on a one-off project basis, we
also offer an Appointed Safety Advisor Service
which gives you discounted rates and ongoing safety consultancy
all the year round.

Appointed Safety Advisor Service
Health & safety services:
We can implement a management system for you based
on the HSE guidance HSG65 “Successful Health and Safety
Management”.
We provide all the necessary services to assist you
in managing each element of the system, from policy development
and risk assessment, to writing procedures and auditing. By working
closely with ALS you can rest assured that your organisation is
not going to fall foul as far as Health and Safety is concerned.
Contractors
Many contractors now find themselves in the position
of having to produce pre-tender health and safety documentation
for prospective clients. These documents may include safety policy,
risk assessments and staff training records. ALS is experienced
in working alongside contract firms in meeting the client’s
needs regarding necessary documentation and training.
Asbestos
ALS was one of the first in the country to be accredited
by UKAS for asbestos testing in 1988 and as an inspection body
in 2001. We have and maintain all current accreditations available.
We have just achieved accreditation for undertaking Four Stage
Clearances. We also hold a supervisory asbestos license.
Training
ALS is an approved training course provider for BOHS,
IOSH and CIEH.
